By now, it’s no longer a secret that Ford will be offering the next-generation F-150 Raptor with two engine options. One is the supercharged 5.2-liter “Predator” V8 that powers the Mustang Shelby GT500 and the other is the “base” Raptor engine rumored to either be an updated version of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 High Output or the 3.5-liter PowerBoost V6 that will also power the 2021 F-150 Hybrid.
But other than what is known, the Blue Oval has not released anything else about the cab configurations for the upcoming Raptor.
That is until Ford Authority claimed that the vehicle’s next generation will only be offered as a SuperCrew, unlike the current version, which is also available as a SuperCab.
It’s not clear where the website obtained its information, but if the report is true, the upcoming vehicle will only be available with four full-size doors, a move that could be explained by the sales of the outgoing edition.
Between the SuperCrew and SuperCab, the former offers more interior cargo space and is deemed the better all-around family vehicle. However, it’s still early to tell if the SuperCab is exiting in the coming model year as Ford has not issued a confirmation yet.
Moreover, it remains to be seen when the automaker plans to debut the next Raptor. The vehicle was previously reported to be a 2021 model, but Ford does not seem to be planning a launch anytime soon.
