Nissan just unveiled the all-new Qashqai for its European market. The model is expected to mirror the upcoming Rogue Sport, a compact crossover exclusive to the United States, which will likely arrive for the 2022 model year.
Based on official photos, the Qashqai shares some similarities with the 2021 Rogue in terms of styling. Both models have the same headlight arrangement on the front end and showcase a more structured look for the greenhouse at the rear. This styling is believed to reflect on the upcoming Rogue Sport, which will be bigger compared to its competitors in the subcompact SUV segment. The new Rogue Sport will slot above the base Kicks model and below the compact Rogue.
But while the Europe-bound Qashqai is equipped with a 12-volt hybrid powertrain, the Rogue Sport will likely be powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter or 2.5-liter inline-four engine paired to a continuously variable transmission. A choice between a front- and all-wheel-drive is also being considered as options for customers.
For the interior, the Qashqai sports a modern-looking dashboard made from premium materials. It comes with a digital instrument cluster and a tablet-style touchscreen infotainment system. The same treatment is expected on the Rogue Sport.
Nissan will be releasing more information about the Qashqai and the new Rogue Sport ahead of their official on-sale dates in Europe and the US, respectively.
