The all-new Nissan Altima will see higher prices for the 2020 model year, but the brand says it is for good reason.

The 2019 version of the vehicle was seen as a revolution for Nissan’s long-standing nameplate, which is currently in production of its sixth generation. This year’s model includes a new variable-compression turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an all-wheel-drive option.

But for the upcoming generation, Nissan is planning to add more upgrades to the Altima. While these are considered minor changes, the brand thinks they will be interesting for buyers.

Among the changes expected for the 2020 Nissan Altima is the price, which now starts at $24,100 for the front-wheel-drive S model and goes up to $25,450 when equipped with the Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive system. The car’s S grades will be equipped with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque.

For consumers who want the 2.0-liter VC turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 248 horsepower, the VC-T SR trim priced at $29,750 would be the better choice. However, this trim will only be offered with a front-wheel drive.

Nissan will add minor upgrades to the Nissan Altima for model year 2020.

All 2020 Altima models will come with the brand’s Nissan Xtronic continuously variable transmission.

But aside from the changes in the pricing, the Altima will also see improvements with its safety features. Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 will be a standard for SR-trimmed models and above, while the S trim will be equipped with an optional Driver Assist Package with Safety Shield.

Other small changes to the car include a mirror memory function on the Platinum Altima, as well as Piano Black interior finishes for the SV, SL, and Platinum trim levels.

Prices for the FWD Altima that comes with the 2.5-liter engine were released for all trims. The S level is priced at $24,100, the SR at $25,700, the SV at $27,880, the SL at $30,240, and the Platinum at $32,180.

For the AWD option, prices go up to $25,450 for the S grade, $27,050 for the SR, $29,230 for the SV, $31,590 for the SL, and $33,530 for the Platinum. The two turbocharged trim levels, meanwhile, are priced at $29,750 for the SR and $35,180 for the Platinum.
