Just a little over a week after details of the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon Edition spread online, the model quietly made its entrance into the lineup for the 2020 model year. Featuring rugged equipment for more adventurous customers, the Recon Edition clearly shows why it’s a tier above the regular Rubicon.
The new Jeep took its place at the top of the Jeep lineup with a starting price of $41,380 for the two-door setup and $46,380 for the four-door Unlimited variant, bringing it up a notch the newly introduced Jeep Wrangler North Edition.
The new Rubicon comes with features consistent with its off-roading theme as well as vanity items such as fender badges, a hood decal, and an “Oscar Mike” tailgate badge, all of which are standard issue.
More than the decorative features, the model is also packed with functional features such as durable painted steel bumpers, front bumper hoop, and Moab Rock Rails.
The Recon Edition also features 17-inch machined and black-painted wheels with 33-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires. For the interior, it has red seat belts, body-color dash vent bezels, as well as a Jeep Trail-Rated kit that includes more accessories such as D-rings, a recovery strap, and dedicated winching gloves.
For now, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon Edition is only offered with a turbocharged 2.0-liter gas four-cylinder engine with eTorque paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine makes 270-horsepower and up to 295 lb-ft of torque on tap.
