Kia seems to be sharing the excitement of customers as it continues to release teaser images of its upcoming Kia K5, also known as the Optima in the United States market.

The latest sketch is actually similar to a previous one released by the automaker earlier. But this time, it lends a full view of the side of the car.

Based on the teaser images, the new Optima features smooth flanks that flow back to a prominent bulge at the rear fenders. It has a coupe-like silhouette for the roof, while the back comes with a short deck and taillights spanning the entire width of the car. The rear fascia has a sporty look that includes a diffuser and integrated exhausts.

Other than the styling and external features, Kia has not released any official information about the Optima’s powertrain range. But it is expected to have an improved hybrid and PHEV choices available to consumers. | Source: Motor1.com

Earlier teasers revealed the Optima having a more aggressive front end with a highly contoured nose as well as large inlets in the lower fascia. Engineers also made an effort to amplify Kia’s “tiger nose” style on the grille, while the headlights feature small lamps and jagged LED running lights in the shape of a lightning bolt.

The company also appears to have adopted a modern style for the Optima’s interior, seamlessly combining a digital instrument cluster with a wide infotainment screen right next to it. A more traditional-looking center console with a rotary dial and buttons is also in place. Compared to the exterior, the inside of the car gives a more minimalist vibe.

Other than the styling and external features, Kia has not released any official information about the Optima’s powertrain range. But it is expected to have an improved hybrid and PHEV choices available to consumers.

The new Optima is set to launch sometime in 2020 as part of Kia’s 2021 lineup.
