In a recent Facebook Live video, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Head of Design Ralph Gilles and Head of Performance, Passenger & Utility Exterior Design Mark Trostle mentioned the new-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is set to arrive this year.

Online news outlet Muscle Cars and Trucks was the first to notice the slip when Gilles discussed his favorite designs and mentioned the Grand Cherokee.

“It has survived beautifully. It’s getting on now, and we’re about to replace it later this year. We’re going to show the new one,” Giles said about the upcoming Grand Cherokee.

While it’s no longer a secret a new version of the Grand Cherokee is coming, Giles’ statement provides a rough timeframe for the official launch of the vehicle.

The next-gen Grand Cherokee was previously spotted by spy photographers and is believed to go on sale for the 2021 model year. Photos of the model show a larger body; however, the camouflage does not reveal much about the styling of the vehicle.

Additionally, the Grand Cherokee is rumored to ride on the same platform as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. There is also a possibility for the powertrain options to include a mild-hybrid-equipped V6 and a V8 for customers looking for more power.

In terms of interior features, the new Grand Cherokee is believed to carry a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster and an equally large infotainment display.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee is expected to go on sale for the 2021 model year following a debut later this year. Expect more updates to be released by FCA in the coming months.
