Everybody loves a good blockbuster. From cult classics like Jaws to modern cultural phenomena like Barbenheimer, films have touched the hearts and minds of moviegoers the world over. We at CarParts.com are no different, and we figured it’d be fun to see how some of our favorite big-screen hits translate into some cool cars. Here’s how we envisioned the most iconic movies would look like as cars with the help of AI.
Star Wars (1977) has a full cast of memorable characters, but alas we could only pick one to transform for this list. We had to go with R2-D2. The droid’s iconic trash-can shape, blue and white color scheme, and sassy beeps and boops have won over many a Star Wars fan. As such, a Volkswagen Beetle with its tall, rounded body was perfect for this vision of a Star Wars-themed car.
If you wish your vehicle had more futuristic features, check out these items from CarParts.com::
This auxiliary port lets you charge your phone while on the road. Don’t miss any of those important calls! You might be their only hope.
It may not be for pod racing, but this classic series shift knob will help you get into gear on and off the beaten road. It’s a clean white color too, and would suit an R2D2-blue interior.
Beachgoers everywhere were scared to step foot in the water after Jaws came out in 1975. We wanted to immortalize this harrowing thriller’s iconic monster shark, and the Mako Shark concept from Chevrolet was the easy choice for a base. Its already-shark-like features just needed that extra oomph, so we gave it pointed teeth and put it in the water.
Here’s some cool stuff from CarParts.com if you’re looking to build your own Jaws tribute vehicle:
Why the red floor mats? That’s easy. It’s to depict the inside of those monstrous jaws, after the shark takes a bite out of some unsuspecting swimmers. It’s a much better option than blood on your interiors, in any case.
While we don’t recommend actually submerging your Jaws-themed vehicle in the ocean, it can’t hurt to be prepared for a little rain. That’s where these waterproof seat covers come in handy.
Indiana Jones is a rough–and-tumble university professor out for ancient artifacts and exciting escapades. His first movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, was released in 1981, and many moviegoers have been hooked ever since. We figured a Jeep would suit his rough and rugged lifestyle. It’s perfect for delving into deep jungles, getting into exciting car chases, and, most importantly, avoiding snakes. This one even has a decorated gold roof rack to hold all his loot.
Here are some items to buy from CarParts.com to help you on your own adventures:
You’ll need good lights if you plan on barrelling through the jungle or elsewhere offroad. Pick up this offroad light kit to do just that.
Be prepared for your own offroad romps, and don’t skimp on the supplies. Bring everything you need by tying them up on this roof rack.
Alien (1979) is another movie set in the far reaches of space, this time with copious amounts of thriller and horror elements. We used a Tesla Cybertruck for this car’s base, picturing something Ellen Ripley could have used to mow down the xenomorph. Though, to be fair, we do think the air lock was far more fitting.
Check out these parts from CarParts.com that can help you build your own alien-hunting vehicle:
In space, no one can hear you scream, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to see. Pick up this futuristic LED light bar for maximum visibility when driving down an otherwise-terrifying road.
If you plan to mount some lights or other items to your alien crusher, you’ll likely need to add this bed bar to your vehicle.
Harry Potter made a big impact on tons of 90s kids, and who can blame them? A world of magic is too much to pass up. That being said, how do you translate all that into a car? We decided to take the iconic Flying Ford Anglia from the Chamber of Secrets, mashing it with the series staple, the Golden Snitch. Now this car can handle flying away from eager Seekers and flying late students to Hogwarts.
If you’re looking to get this look down, you might want these items from CarParts.com:
Ok, we’ll be the first to admit that a fully bright-gold look might not be to everyone’s taste. If you want just a splash of gold bling, why not try this gold exterior door handle instead?
Continuing with the gold-accent trend, we have this gold dust shield for your wheel hubs. It should make taking your golden snitch out for a drive extra stellar.
The 2012 Avengers movie was, at the time, the culmination of all of Marvel’s cinema-related efforts. It still stands as one of the most ambitious crossovers to date. The heroes were memorable and numerous. That’s exactly why we chose to model this car after the villain who stole the show. This Loki-styled car encapsulates the iconic villain’s colors and vibes with a dark green base and gold accents. Instead of flying through the city, Loki can now enjoy a calming drive through the streets in this vehicle.
If you’re a fan of Loki as he appeared in Avengers, you might want to see these parts from the CarParts.com catalog:
Loki, the trickster god of Asgard, would never trust anyone around his car. He’d have the gas tank locked up with this on-theme green lock. You can also protect your gas tank from tampering by using it.
While a regular windshield is all well and good, if you’re going for the full Loki look, why not make it green while you’re at it? Try this green windshield tint if you’re burdened with glorious purpose like Loki.
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire, is that a Top Gun Maverick-styled Porsche 911? Top Gun Maverick took the world by storm in 2022 with its homage to the classic Top Gun movie from 1986. For this movie car, we chose the iconic Porsche from the last scene in the 2022 movie, adding the star from the USAF aircraft insignia to one of its doors as a salute to the duology. We only regret that we couldn’t get Jennifer Connelly to stand beside it while waiting for Tom Cruise.
Here are some parts from CarParts.com that can help you achieve that Top Gun look:
Cars unfortunately still can’t fly, but if you want that airplane look, try adding a spoiler to the top of your trunk. These things improve aerodynamics and are often patterned after airplane wings.
Make your wheels look like jet engines with these wheels from AutoWheels.
Barbenheimer took the world by radioactive pink storm in 2023, and we decided to pay tribute to both. First off, here’s a Cadillac convertible that we think Barbie herself would love to drive. The pastel pink is perfect for the iconic doll. Now that she’s staying in the human world, maybe she can save up for it.
Here’s some other pink paraphernalia you can purchase from CarParts.com:
This all-pink Weathertech Cargo Organizer is an excellent buy for those who need a place to put their tools as they work on their dream Barbie car.
Barbie would love it if her car was pink outside and in. Pick up these electrical pigtails and delight in the pink accents in your vehicle’s electrical system.
We thought we’d end things with a (metaphorical) bang. On the other side of the iconic Barbenheimer movie duo is Oppenheimer. It’s dark, gritty, and realistic. Oppenheimer goes from idealizing his project as the solution to the world’s wars to facing the grim reality. We picked the 1929 Chrysler convertible coupe, Oppenheimer’s actual car, as the subject for the flashback black and white image. Our second choice is a 1940s Cadillac in a more colorful, complex world, to show the complex results of Oppenheimer’s work.
If you’re looking to achieve a similar classic look, these things from CarParts.com can help:
Those white-walled tires will need protection when your car’s parked. Get these white tire covers to keep as much dust and dirt off them as possible.
A canvas convertible top gives off peak classic vibes for any vehicle. Here’s one by Kee Auto Top.
These iconic movies are just a few of the very best ones that stay with you. Whether you grew up with them or enjoyed them as an adult, they all did something unique to stay in your memory. We hope these fun little movie-car mashups do the same.
