Ford’s F-Series Super Duty trucks may not be getting a design overhaul like the popular F-150 this year, but Ford is still upping the ante for the upcoming versions of the F-250, F-350, and F-450 for 2022.
The trucks will have a slew of updates, most notable of which is the addition of 12.0-inch touchscreens in a horizontal orientation, which was first introduced in the F-150. These screens could rival Ram’s vertically oriented ones and will feature the brand’s Sync 4 infotainment system.
The catch, though, is that customers must purchase the Lariat model or any variant above it.
The Sync 4 system features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability similar to the Ford F-150, but the Super Duty trucks won’t be getting the same 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster.
For customers who don’t mind getting a smaller screen, the Blue Oval will also issue a 4.2-inch screen as standard equipment. The XLT variant, on the other hand, gets the 8.0-inch screen with the older Sync 3.
Aside from the addition of better display options, Ford’s Super Duty trucks are also treated to new paint jobs such as the Atlas Blue exterior color, Baja interior color for the Lariat, Navy Pier and Light Slate interior colors for the Limited models, as well as new appearance packages for the F-20 and F-350.
The Lariat Sport appearance package gives the truck complementary bumpers, mirrors, and grille in addition to chrome exhaust tips and black running boards.
The Black appearance package, which is available on the XLT variant, offers black 20-inch wheels, body-colored bumpers and grille, running boards, and blacked-out Ford badges.
Other standard features on the Ford Super Duty trucks are a 6.2-liter V-8 that makes 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, the choice between rear- and four-wheel drive, as well as a six- or 10-speed automatic transmission.
A 7.3-liter V-8 and 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8 are also available as options.
The 2022 Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks go on sale in the United States this summer, but the final pricing has not been released.
