It looks like the turbocharged Mazda 3 hatchback is on the horizon, at least judging by a teaser recently posted by the Japanese automaker on Twitter.
In a not-so-subtle tweet, Mazda revealed it is unveiling a turbocharged version of the Mazda 3 on July 8, before proceeding to tweet to online publication Car and Driver’s inquiry with “power comes to those who wait.” The reply also contains a link to a video of what is believed to be the sound of the upcoming car’s engine revving in the background.
The interaction suggests the automaker is preparing to introduce its latest offering to the public, taking into account that the video also includes the words “prepare for launch.” However, when asked to provide more details about the cryptic tweet, Mazda did not release any.
The new Mazda 3 hatchback is believed to be equipped with a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that delivers 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. But, according to reports, the model is likely going to be offered with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Other items of information about the specifications and features of the upcoming Mazda 3 hatchback are expected to surface in the coming weeks leading to the July 8 launch.
