When Mazda launched the revamped CX-30 for the 2021 model year, customers were happy to see it with a more powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as an option. The new setup delivers 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel, which is a significant jump from the 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft torque makeup of the non-turbo engine.

Of course, the refresh came with other upgrades such as larger exhaust pipes, black door mirrors, some special badging, and a set of 18-inch gloss black wheels to complement the additional motor power.

But while the black wheels are a wonder to look at, they are not the only options available to interested buyers. According to online publication CarBuzz, the CX-30 is also offered with two other wheel choices that could give its exterior a totally different appeal. Fair warning, though: these wheels do not come cheap.

The optional wheels are not available on the CX-30’s configurator, but they can be found on the accessory page of Mazda’s official website. The first option is the matte black 18-inch wheels that come with a slightly different spoke pattern, retailing for $349.95 each or $1,399.80 for the set. It’s a considerable increase from the standard-issue gloss black wheels, and they do not include the new TPMS sensors that cost $60.99 each, of which buyers need to avail four. This brings the total to $1,643.76.

Mazda has also made the forged BBS wheels available for the CX-30. The automaker describes them as “stylishly designed wheels created with our high-tech alloy casting processes.” The BBS wheels are said to be lighter than the standard set; however, they also come at a much steeper price.

One BBS wheel retails for $918.95, meaning a complete set (including the $60.99 TPMS sensor) could cost around $3,919.76 before installation fees. For a 2021 CX-30 that starts at $29,900, the BBS wheels can add 13% more to its total price.

The BBS wheels are also offered on the Mazda3 Turbo for the same price, while the Mazda MX-5 Miata also sports a set with a more aggressive look.
