Kia is killing the Sedona nameplate in the United States and will instead adopt the Carnival name, a report published by Korean Car Blog said.
The name change will coincide with the upcoming launch of the new minivan. When that will be, though, is still unconfirmed.
What has been verified so far is that the people hauler will be far more luxurious than the current-generation vans in the Kia lineup.
This will be the second name change for Kia in the US, following its decision to rebrand the Kia Optima as the K5. However, for this current name change, Kia didn’t mention why it is choosing “Carnival” over an alphanumeric moniker.
As of writing, Kia has not yet confirmed the arrival of the Carnival minivan in the US market. But when it does, the manufacturer is likely going to refer to it as a grand touring SUV instead of a minivan.
Stay tuned for more details on the Carnival once Kia releases more details about its US sale.
