Summer is still a few months away, but Jeep is already bringing the heat.
The automaker recently announced the return of the Islander edition, which will be available in more Jeep models. Instead of just the Wrangler, the special edition will also be offered on the Renegade for the first time.
When the Islander edition arrives on the Renegade, customers can expect upgraded off-roading capability complementing its standard features.
“Our Jeep enthusiasts expect legendary Jeep 4×4 capability, and they also embrace the Jeep brand’s fun ‘go anywhere, do anything’ adventure lifestyle,” shared Jim Morrison, Jeep Brand North America vice president. “With Surf Blue accent stitching, Islander-embroidered front seats, and available white three-piece hardtop on the Wrangler, you can’t help but think summer and the beach life when you see these new Islander special editions.”
The Islander edition of the Wrangler is based on the Sport S and features the brand’s Command-Trac 4×4 part-time system, plus a two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. It’s also equipped with a set of 17-inch Rubicon Silver Finish aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires and Rubicon Rock Rails.
For the exterior, the model sports a special Tiki Bob hood decal as well as a white three-piece hardtop. Meanwhile, the interior is lined with an embroidered logo, Ceramic White mid-bolster, and the Surf Blue accent stitching mentioned.
As for the Renegade, there are fewer off-roading features that are standard equipment; however, it will be sold with Jeep’s Active Drive full-time 4x4x system, a set of 19-inch Silver Alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires, keyless entry tech, remote start, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof. It will also have the same Tiki Bob hood decal and Surf Blue accent stitching as the Wrangler.
Jeep said both Islander special editions are now on sale at dealerships across the United States. The Wrangler Islander retails for $33,870 for the two-door variant and $36,870 for the four-door type. The Renegade Islander, on the other hand, starts a little lower at $27,430. Both models require a $1,495 destination charge.
