At CarParts.com, we love our cars like they’re our children.

This affection has inspired many of us to name them—a custom that has been memorialized in the National Day Calendar as “Name Your Car Day,” which falls on October 2nd. So in honor of #NameYourCarDay, the team here at CarParts.com thought it would only be fitting to celebrate by sharing our babies’ pictures and the stories behind their names:

Proud Parent: Simon

This beauty was named after Juggernaut from X-Men. He’s a gentle beast with a smooth ride and a spacious, super comfy interior.

Ages: 2 months | 4 years, 7 months | 3 months

Weights: 2,760 lb. | 2,535 lb. | 2,605 lb.

Proud Parents: Red | Ivan | Amos

Triplets for three times the cuteness! Tiks has the same nickname as his parent, and the names of the other two are pretty self-explanatory.

“I named her Red Foxy because she’s sexy and smooth yet can get me off-road in the bushes if I please.”

Proud Parent: Jon

“We will burn Utica to the ground.” This ride’s name and sun shade were inspired by one of Jon’s favorite episodes of The Office—the one where Michael, Jim and Dwight go on a crusade to the Utica branch of Dunder Mifflin to rescue Stanley.

Name: Mark

YMM: 2004 Volkswagen GTI

Age: 15 years, 3 months | Length: 164.9 in. | Weight: 2,934 lb.

Proud Parent: Sal

Mark’s namesake is a mystery. One thing we do know is that he’s German-Brazilian!

pitufin acura tl

Name: Pitufin

YMM: 2008 Acura TL

Age: 11 years, 3 months | Length: 189.3 in. | Weight: 3,559 lb.

Proud Parent: Jorge

“Pitufin” means “Little Smurf.” This little one’s been through a lot and had a number of common replacement parts swapped out, including the power steering pump, alternator, and lower control arms.

Name: Taco

YMM: 2017 Toyota Tacoma

Age: 2 years | Length: 212.3 in. | Weight: 3,980 lb.

Proud Parent: Carla

Carla’s son dubbed this Tacoma along with all their other family cars. Taco is also known as “Muscle Man,” since he helps with transporting all the heavy stuff and is the family’s go-to rig for off-roading and driving on sand dunes.

Age: 2 years | Length: 171.1 in. | Weight: 2,857 lb.

Proud Parent: Malik

Gunter’s name was inspired by his German descent. Proud dad Malik actually has quite a few German children, including a 1972 BMW 3.0CSa named Klaus, a 1972 BMW 2002 named Heinrich, and a 2003 BMW M5 named Rolf.

 

We take great pride in our little loves, and hope you enjoyed ooh-ing and aww-ing over them. It never gets old for us—they’re growing up way too fast!
