Hyundai recently shared photos of the new Kona, suggesting that the crossover could be arriving in the United States soon.
Shown in the photos is the Kona model that was built for the European market. It sports a few styling updates on both the interior and exterior, plus a glimpse at the new N-Line model.
The car’s N-Line version comes with a more aggressive styling and a powerful engine in the form of a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four that delivers 195 horsepower. It’s 20 horses more than the Kona model being sold in the U.S. with the same engine.
For the standard model, Hyundai is expected to keep the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four engine that makes 147 horsepower.
Other styling updates include a new dashboard layout that comes with a digital gauge cluster, as well as an optional 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. The base screen is now an inch bigger at 8.0 inches and equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
In addition to the tech updates, the Korean automaker says customers will also be treated with rear-seat heating, USB ports, and an improved cargo space and legroom in the back row.
It is worth noting, however, that these are so far specific to the Europe-bound Kona. Hyundai is yet to reveal the final details of the U.S.-spec model, although it’s likely not going to be too different from the model in the photos.
U.S. customers can expect the all-new Hyundai Kona to arrive at dealerships next year as a 2022 model. Pricing is presumed to fall within the $21,540 to $29,190 range as that of the 2021 edition.
