Spy photos of the upcoming Hyundai Santa Cruz have previously circulated, completely covered with camo, and revealing hardly anything to the public. This time around, a new set is making its rounds online baring the pickup’s unibody.
The images of the truck, shared by an anonymous user on the Motor1 website, gives the public a slightly better view of the model, which was fully draped during its formal introduction. The photos were then picked up by the Korean Car Blog and other online sites eagerly anticipating the arrival of the truck.
In the pictures, the Santa Cruz is hauled by a forklift, so it does not yield much with regard to the design of the truck, which is being marketed as a lifestyle pickup instead of a workhorse vehicle.
But given that it is based on the Santa Fe SUV, the model is expected to be less of a powerhouse vehicle that’s great for hauling gear. It leans more toward being a go-to vehicle for outdoor activities.
When it arrives, the Hyundai Santa Cruz will go head to head with the Honda Ridgeline, Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, and Toyota Tacoma.
It is slated to go into production sometime in 2021 and will carry a price tag of $25,000.
