It’s only been two years since Hyundai rolled out the current generation of its Santa Fe crossover. But the automaker is already giving the model a facelift for 2021 and it’s due to arrive in the next few weeks.

In a couple of teasers the Korean carmaker recently released, it showed the updated Santa Fe with a unique split-headlight styling complemented by LED running lights at the top and larger main units below. But the difference from the outgoing generation is that the lower lights are now integrated with the grille and appear more squared off.

The upcoming crossover is also reportedly getting a T-shaped DRL light signature that extends from the top to bottom, as well as a more sculpted front fascia and a new hood.

The teasers also show two different variants of the model: the Luxury trim that has a geometric grille and trapezoidal components and the Standard trim that has the same grille pattern as the current model.

However, there is something else that’s new with the Santa Fe: its powertrains.

Hyundai confirmed the next-generation crossover will be available with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Both powertrains are also likely to come to the United States.

The facelifted Santa Fe will ride on an “all-new third-generation vehicle platform” that also boasts an improved electrical architecture to accommodate hybrid models from the lineup. While platform changes are usually saved for model redesigns, a representative for Hyundai said the new Santa Fe will be the first SUV to ride the new platform.

The 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks and will go on sale by the end of the year.
