  • 8mm socket
  • Magnetic extender
  • Multi-bit screwdriver
  • Torx T20 bit

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Turn off your engine and set the parking brake.

Step 2: Open the tailgate to access the tailgate handle.

Step 3: Using a Torx T30 bit, remove the eight retaining screws from the tailgate’s plastic protector, and then remove the protector.

Step 4: Remove the protective metal plate to gain access to the opening mechanism.

Step 5: Use a flat-head screwdriver to disconnect the back-up camera’s power connector.

Step 6: Using a ratchet, a small extender, and an 8mm socket, unscrew the two retaining nuts from the tailgate handle. Remove the nuts with a magnetic extender.

Step 7: Extract the tailgate handle from underneath by holding the opening mechanism with your fingers.

Step 8: Using a multi-bit screwdriver and an 8mm socket, unscrew the two bolts holding the lock and remove it.

Step 9: Using a multi-bit screwdriver and a Torx T20 bit, unscrew the back-up camera’s two retaining screws and remove it.

Step 10: Take the new tailgate handle.

Step 11: Place the back-up camera in its designated spot and reinstall its screws.

Step 12: Put the lock in place and reinstall its screws.

Step 13: Replace the tailgate handle by inserting the top part first, and thread the two screws holding the tailgate handle into the opening mechanism.

Step 14: Screw the two nuts back in.

Step 15: Before closing the assembly, test the opening and locking system to ensure it works.

Step 16: Reconnect the back-up camera.

Step 17: Put the metal protection plate back on.

Step 18: Put the plastic protective cover back and screw it back on.

Step 19: Operation complete.
