- Phillips screwdriver
- Flat head screwdriver
- Ratchet
- 10mm socket
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Turn your engine off and set the parking brake.
Step 2: Open the door.
Step 3: To change your car’s side view mirror, you have to take off the door trim.
Step 4: Using a plastic fork, remove the plastic covering the side view mirror’s retaining nuts.
Step 5: Then, using the same tool, remove the plastic cover located in the door handle hole.
Step 6: Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the retaining screw from the inner door panel.
Step 7: Using the fork, lift up the electric window and side mirror controls.
Step 8: Then disconnect them by pressing the tab.
Step 9: Using a small flat head screwdriver, remove the 7 push pin rivet fasteners from the inner door panel.
Step 10: Pull on the door handle trim to remove it.
Step 11: You can now remove the door panel by lifting it off the top track.
Step 12: Using a small flat head screwdriver, disconnect the electrical connector from the side view mirror by pressing the tab.
Step 13: Then pry on the side view mirror power cable retaining clip using the fork.
Step 14: Using a ratchet and a 10 mm socket, unscrew the 3 retaining nuts from the side view mirror.
Step 15: Take off the side view mirror.
Step 16: Remove the rubber protectors.
Step 17: Take the new side view mirror.
Step 18: Insert the side view mirror into its housing.
Step 19: Remember to thread the power cable through the hole provided for it.
Step 20: Then screw the 3 nuts back in, by hand at first.
Step 21: Finish off tightening with a ratchet.
Step 22: You can take the cable retaining clip from the old side view mirror.
Step 23: Then put the clip back in place.
Step 24: Plug the electrical connector back in.
Step 25: Now you can put the door panel back on, being careful to make sure that the entire trim is resting against the door as you put it on.
Step 26: Don’t forget to pass the door lock latch through the trim.
Step 27: Check that the trim has been put back correctly.
Step 28: Put the door handle trim back on.
Step 29: Screw back the screw located in the handle, then replace the plastic cover.
Step 30: Fit the 7 push pin rivet fasteners.
Step 31: Reconnect the power to the electric window and side mirror controls.
Step 32: Then put them back in place.
Step 33: Reinstall the plastic that covers the side view mirror retaining nuts.
Step 34: Operation complete.
