Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Turn Off the Engine and Set Parking Brake
- Ensure the vehicle’s engine is turned off.
- Engage the parking brake to prevent any movement.
Step 2: Remove License Plate Holder
- Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the four screws securing the license plate holder.
- Remove the license plate holder.
Step 3: Detach Plastic Rivets
- Use a fork to carefully pry the central part of the two plastic rivets and remove them.
Step 4: Unscrew Rear Bumper Retaining Bolts
- With a ratchet and a 15mm socket, unscrew the first two rear bumper retaining bolts.
- Position yourself under the vehicle.
Step 5: Disconnect Power Connectors
- Remove the power connector from the hitch socket.
- Disconnect the two power connectors from the license plate bulbs by pulling on the red tab and removing the connectors.
Step 6: Unscrew Additional Rear Bumper Retaining Bolts
- Unscrew the remaining two rear bumper retaining bolts using the ratchet and 15mm socket.
- Remove the bolts.
Step 7: Remove Protective Cover
- Take off the protective cover from the rear bumper retaining bolt on the hitch.
- Use a ratchet and a ⅛” socket to unscrew this retaining bolt.
Step 8: Remove Rear Bumper
- Lift and remove the old rear bumper.
Step 9: Install the New Rear Bumper
- Place the new rear bumper in position.
Step 10: Secure Rear Bumper Retaining Bolt
- Screw the rear bumper retaining bolt back onto the hitch using the ratchet and socket.
- Ensure it is tightened securely.
Step 11: Replace Protective Cover
- Put the protective cover back on the hitch.
Step 12: Reattach Rear Bumper
- Position yourself under the vehicle.
- Screw in the four rear bumper retaining bolts using the ratchet and socket.
Step 13: Reconnect Power Connectors
- Reconnect the two power connectors to the license plate bulbs.
- Lock them securely in place.
- Reconnect the power connector to the hitch socket.
Step 14: Finalize Rear Bumper Installation
- Screw in the last two rear bumper retaining bolts.
- Reinsert the plastic rivets in their original positions.
Step 15: Install License Plate Holder
- Place the license plate holder back in position.
- Screw in its four retaining screws using the Phillips screwdriver.
Step 16: Completion
- Ensure all components are securely in place.
- Test the new rear bumper for stability.
- Your rear bumper replacement is complete.
