- Thin flathead screwdriver
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Turn off your vehicle’s ignition, engage the parking brake, pull the hood release handle, and open the hood.
Step 2: For increased security, it’s recommended to replace both hood lift supports.
Step 3: To ensure the hood stays open, find a suitable prop that allows the hood lift supports to fully extend.
Step 4: Use a thin flathead screwdriver to lift the clip at the bottom of the hood lift support, releasing it from the notch. Repeat this step at the top and then remove the hood lift support.
Step 5: Take the replacement hood lift support, ensuring it’s positioned the correct way up.
Step 6: Lift the clips on both sides of the hood lift support to their maximum extent.
Step 7: Insert the new hood lift support at the top and lock the clip into place.
Step 8: Repeat the clip-lifting process on the lower part of the hood lift support.
Step 9: Repeat the entire procedure on the other side for the second hood lift support.
