Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Turn off the ignition and set the parking brake.
Step 2: Pull on the bonnet release lever and open the bonnet.
Step 3: Locate the battery on the right side of the engine compartment.
Important: Never start by disconnecting the positive terminal, as disconnecting the minus terminal first avoids sparks that can be dangerous to the car’s electrical system.
Step 4: Using a ratchet and a 10 mm socket, remove the negative terminal from the battery. Ensure you distance the cable to prevent untimely reconnections.
Step 5: Repeat the operation on the positive terminal.
Step 6: To remove the battery, unscrew the battery clamp using a ratchet, an extender, and a 10 mm socket. Fully unscrew the holding bolt and remove the battery clamp.
Step 7: Remove the battery.
Step 8: Sand the inside of the terminals with sandpaper to remove the layer of white oxidation and prevent breakdowns.
Step 9: Take the new battery.
Step 10: Coat the terminals with copper grease for improved contact and to limit oxidation development.
Step 11: Put the new battery in place and push it firmly into its frame.
Step 12: Put the battery clamp back in place and finish tightening with the ratchet.
Step 13: Start by putting the positive terminal back in place. Fix it with a 10 mm socket.
Step 14: Put the negative terminal back on, insert it fully, and fix it in place.
Step 15: Operation complete.

Important Reminders
- Always remove the (black) negative terminal (“ground”) first.
- When reinstalling the battery, always put the positive (red) terminal back in first.
- Once the terminal has been removed, ensure you distance the cable to avoid untimely reconnections which could damage the electrical network of the vehicle.
