With the arrival of the 11th generation of the Honda Civic slated spring of 2021, speculations about an all-wheel-drive version have crept on the grapevine. After all, the new Civic will be going up against equally competitive rivals such as the Subaru Impreza and Mazda 3.

Honda, however, was quick to shut down all hopes for a possible AWD Civic in the 2022 model year, saying there were “no plans” for it. A spokesperson for the company confirmed this with online publication Car and Driver shortly after a Civic prototype was unveiled to the public.
