Before 2020 ended, a test mule believed to be the new Honda Civic sedan was spotted in the wild. Shortly after, Honda unveiled the sedan via live streaming platform Twitch.

During the live stream, the model was revealed to have a longer hood and a more sophisticated styling similar to the Accord. The absence of the C-shaped taillights and the more understated design language were also noticeable.

Aside from the regular Civic sedan, Honda also shared that a hatchback version will join the 11th-generation lineup. In fact, spy shots of the Civic hatch have been released online, showing the same subtle approach in styling. And while Honda has not officially announced the official launch date of the model, rumors are swirling that it will be in November this year.

The source of the rumors is Japanese print magazine Magazine X through an article shared by the website Creative311.com. According to reports, Honda is planning to debut the new Civic Hatchback in Japan instead of the United States. This, in itself, is interesting news because this generation of the vehicle will be built in the US instead of the UK.

The upcoming Civic Hatchback is reportedly going to be the first model to be underpinned by the brand’s new architecture. Earlier reports claimed the new HR-V would be first, but the latest update favors the Civic Hatchback.

Whether the next-gen Civic hatch ends up getting released later this year or early next, it’s certain customers can look forward to its Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure. The Civic sedan, the sportier Si, and the high-performance Type R are also arriving soon.
