One thing that puts the Ford F-150 truck in a league of its own is its ability to power tools and appliances. And with winter storms currently wreaking havoc in the state of Texas, Ford is asking local dealers to lend their remaining stock of F-150 trucks to help out.
In a report published by Automotive News, the Blue Oval was reportedly urging its dealers in Texas to loan out their remaining units of the F-150 PowerBoost hybrid model, which can be equipped with a generator, to help a total of 415 homes and businesses in the state.
Ford is also making it easier for customers to avail of the loan programs it offers. In particular, Ford is incentivizing its dealers by increasing the loaner fee to $600.
Moreover, the company is assuring its dealer network that the trucks can still be sold to customers through the March Truck Month promotion.
All gasoline-powered F-150 models are available for purchase with the optional 2-kilowatt generator aside from the standard V6. Hybrid models, on the other hand, get a 2.7-kW generator as standard equipment, while a 7.2-kW system is offered as an option.
While the 415 truck generators are not expected to make significant changes for the entire state, Ford is being commended for its initiative in doling out help to locals in need.
