While everyone awaits the arrival of the third-generation Ford F-150 Raptor, Ford is shining the spotlight on another F-150 variant: the recently debuted 2021 F-150 Tremor that comes with more capability than the FX4 package.

For customers having second thoughts about the Raptor being too extreme, the Tremor could be the next best option in the Ford lineup. It comes packed with great features, with its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission standing out the most.

Now, will there be other engine options for the Tremor? The quick answer is no.

The EcoBoost V6 will be the lone engine option for the model and a spokesperson for Ford clarifies that it’s not due to mechanical reasons. “No, not mechanical. More simplifying,” the spokesperson said.

Simply put, the Blue Oval finds no justification in building the Tremor with more than one engine option when its standard-issue EcoBoost V6 already gets the job done. It delivers up to 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, plus it has a towing estimate of 10,900 pounds and a maximum payload of 1,885 pounds.

Also included as standard equipment is a four-wheel-drive setup and the SuperCrew configuration that comes with a 5.5-foot box.

Moreover, buyers can expect re-tuned springs for more ground clearance as well as revised front hub knuckles and upper control arms. Depending on the trim level, monotube shocks in the front and twin-tube shocks at the back are also found in the Tremor.

General Grabber all-terrain tires measuring 33 inches, wrapped in 18-inch wheels, will come as standard, alongside a locking front and rear differential. A Torsen limited slip-diff will be offered as an option.
