Ford Mustang Mach-E Is Getting More Juice

It looks like the Ford Mustang Mach-E is getting bolstered in the performance spec department, as reports surface that the automaker is giving the highly anticipated model an increase in horsepower, torque, and battery power.

A post on MachEForum.com claims these specifications will be boosted based on documents acquired from a Ford dealer.

But the improvement in horsepower, torque, and power density that the unnamed dealer source is claiming will not be that significant for the Mustang Mach-E to go head-to-head with Tesla. If anything, it’s enough to appease customers who were slightly disappointed when the Blue Oval released the model’s performance numbers.

The most significant increase so far is for the range-topping all-wheel-drive extended-range model, which will see an addition of 14 horsepower, 11 lb-ft of torque, and 10 kilowatts of power to the previously released specs.

Other models in the lineup, meanwhile, will see increases ranging from 8 horsepower on the extended-range RWD variant to 11 horsepower on the standard-range AWD and RWD types. Torque also goes up by 11 lb-ft across the board.

These claims, however, have not been confirmed by an official from Ford. But the question is: why did Ford decide to spruce up the Mach-E?

Experts are looking at it as an effort to keep up with the market trend and employ more efficient software in the vehicle, which is something its rival Tesla has done.

These new changes could be a huge convincing factor for customers still on the fence about getting the EV.
