A new Ford F-150 is currently being developed and reports have it that the pickup will have a Hellcat engine. Although not a lot of details have been revealed, the truck is expected to have eight cylinders.
The truck currently sports a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, making 450 horsepower. But the engine sprouts a lot of complaints from consumers, creating clamor to have the model carry a V8 roar and it looks like Ford is indulging the consumers.
According to reports, the automaker is currently testing a new Ford F-150 with a V8 engine that could rival the Ram Rebel TRX that has a Hellcat V8 with over 700 horsepower.
The use of a better-performing engine is an attempt to keep the F-150 on top as the off-road apex predator.
There are also reports that Ford could possibly go with the 7.3-liter pushrod V8 instead, a compact engine which the brand previously said will be the most powerful gasoline V8 in its class. Not much is known about the power, but it likely wouldn’t get close to matching the supercharged Hellcat V8.
