Within the Blue Oval’s ever-evolving lineup of reliable pickups, SUVs, and off-roaders, loyal customers are given a variety of options depending on their priorities. There is the Ford F-150 Raptor for the hardcore adventure enthusiasts while the Ford Expedition is an ideal choice for those who prefer a family-hauler with huge cabin space.
But how about those looking for the best of both worlds? Enter the Ford Expedition’s new FX4 Off-Road Package. Soon to be offered for the Expedition Limited, XLT, and Max trim levels, the FX4 Off-Road Package gives the models some serious gear for off-roading.
The package comes with an electronic limited-slip differential, off-road-tuned shock absorbers, skid plates, and 32-inch all-terrain tires. Also included are 18-inch wheels, which are a little smaller than the Limited trim’s standard 20-inch wheels, a shorter chin spoiler, a sand shield for the turbocharger, chrome-plated running boards, as well as FX4 badges.
For the interior, the package features a 360-degree camera with a split-view function, a leather-lined cabin, a premium audio system, and all the other trimmings included in the Expedition’s Limited variant.
The decision to introduce an off-roading package for the Expedition was made after Ford found out 20% of Expedition owners reportedly take their SUVs for off-roading.
Moreover, 45% of these customers take the vehicle on hunting, fishing, or camping trips.
The FX4 Off-Road Package is available for an additional fee of $2,035 to the price of an Expedition Limited. This puts the total price to $71,865.
