Ford is reportedly delaying the production of its highly awaited 2021 Bronco Sport amid ongoing coronavirus concerns that have immensely escalated in the United States over the last few weeks.

According to a report from Automotive News, the Blue Oval is now looking at September 7 as the day the SUV enters production, almost two months later than originally planned. The schedule for the bigger Bronco, however, remains unclear.

The online publication is claiming to have supplier information validating the new target date despite the absence of a confirmation from the automaker. The model is also likely to make its very first official appearance at the rescheduled New York Auto Show in August.

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is expected to share its underpinnings with the redesigned 2020 Escape, including the 1.5- and 2.0-liter turbocharged engines .

The 2021 Bronco Sport is one of the most anticipated releases this year, but enthusiasts and interested buyers will have to wait a little longer until the health crisis currently plaguing the world is resolved.

It’s not like the public does not have an idea of what to expect from the vehicle, anyway, as Ford has already shared vital information about the product.

The new Bronco Sport is expected to share its underpinnings with the redesigned 2020 Escape, including the 1.5- and 2.0-liter turbocharged engines. Unlike the Escape or its rival in the Jeep Renegade, the Bronco Sport will only be available with an all-wheel-drive setup.

Aside from the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport, other models affected by precautionary measures to contain the spread of coronavirus in the U.S. include the Mustang Mach-E and the new-generation F-150.
