In 2019, Ram confirmed its plans to begin production for the 1500 Rebel TRX sometime this year. But given what’s happening in the world, people are curious if the automaker is still pushing through with the project.

The model was initially scheduled to debut at the 2020 Detroit Auto Show before the event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now without a fixed date for debut and factories just about to reopen, it’s uncertain whether the 1500 Rebel TRX will even make it to production this year.

However, Mopar Insiders seems to be in the know when it comes to the vehicle’s production schedule. According to the online publication, Ram is looking to begin its production in September or October. Moreover, dealerships are reportedly being notified of their respective Rebel TRX allocations.

If this is true, it means the public can expect an official launch of the performance pickup truck in late June, around the same time the company is also set to host the What’s New press event.

If the reports are accurate, the public can expect an official launch of the performance pickup truck in late June.

The Ram 1500 Rebel TRX is the automaker’s answer to the Ford Ranger Raptor. It is expected to be powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that can deliver up to as high as 707 horsepower. It will have a four-wheel-drive setup with ARB Air Lockers in the axles.

It is also believed to be equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers in all corners, improved brakes for better stopping power, as well as a few mechanical upgrades to boost its performance.

Last April, photos of the truck’s interior were leaked online, suggesting the model could be offered with different drive modes, thanks to a special TRX button. There is also a different gear shifter believed to replace the rotary dial, while the spacious cabin shows that the TRX will be a good ride both on- and off-road.

Ram is expected to release additional details in the coming weeks as its parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles gears up to reopen its facilities on May 18.
