The new Hummer is due to arrive in the market this May and General Motors just announced pre-order details on the highly anticipated battery-electric pickup.
Beginning on May 20, the automaker will begin accepting pre-orders for the model, whose official reveal will be livestreamed to the public through a dedicated page for the Hummer on the GMC website (www.gmc.com).
During the public reveal, GMC will also be releasing the truck’s motor specifications, pricing, and other details, a GMC spokeswoman told the Detroit Free Press.
“We will announce all the details, how many vehicles will be built, what the vehicle will look like and the configuration,” GMC spokeswoman Michelle Malcho said.
In previous reports, GM has confirmed the Hummer EV pickup will be capable of producing 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. It is also said to go from zero to 60 mph in 3 seconds and arrive with off-roading features. The company, however, has not shared anything about the model’s range capability.
Pre-orders for the Hummer EV will follow a first-come, first-served basis. It will also require customers to put down a “certain cash amount” and provide their name and contact information to reserve a Hummer.
Malcho, however, said GM has not finalized the amount of minimum down payment that will be required for a pre-order.
GMC is scheduled to begin production on the new Hummer in September 2021 at the company’s Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant.
All GMC dealers in the United States (1,685 total) will be eligible to sell the Hummer provided they sign a Hummer dealer agreement requiring them to spend around $140,000 to upgrade their facilities with new infrastructure meant for electric pickups.
