A total of 217,185 Ford F-150 pickup trucks are being recalled by the company over complaints about their headlights being too bright.

Affected by the recall are trucks equipped with the optional LEDs from the model years 2018 through. According to Ford, there are problems with daytime running lights that don’t dim when the low beams are manually turned on, which goes against the law in the United States.

“This may reduce the visibility of other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash,” Ford said in a statement.

Ford, however, clarified that it is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries that may be related to the problem.

As a result, the automaker is issuing a safety compliance recall on the F-150 trucks, 166,196 of which are in the United States while the other 50,989 are in Canada.

The company, however, clarified that it is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries that may be related to the problem.

To fix the issue, Ford said dealers are already instructed to issue software updates to owners of the affected F-150 trucks at no extra costs. The software update should be able to fix the DRL issue. Ford also advised customers to expect their recall notifications to arrive soon.

Poor-quality headlights have been a constant problem for automakers in recent years, both on the part of the manufacturer and the drivers. For automakers, the issue is about the headlights being too bright, too dim, or too expensive.
