Following the recent debuts of the new Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, Cadillac announced that it will also be releasing the next generation of the Escalade on February 4, 2020. The official launch will be held in Beverly Hills, California.
Noticeably, the launch date of the new Escalade is only five days before the highly anticipated 2020 Academy Awards. This suggests that the model will have a significant role in the awards program, considering the automaker’s advertising and product placement at the Oscars in previous years.
Cadillac President Steve Carlisle said the public can expect to see the new Escalade making its very first red-carpet appearance at the show, with some of the stars even possibly arriving at the event in the new SUV.
While the company has not shared more details about the new Escalade save for a cryptic teaser, eagle-eyed viewers can point out which features are arriving with the vehicle based on its recently debuted siblings from the Chevrolet brand.
The new Tahoe and Suburban feature an independent rear suspension, two updated V8 engines, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and available air suspension. All of these features are also expected to find their way in the upcoming Escalade except for the turbodiesel engine. Additionally, the Escalade, as well as its Escalade ESV variant, are projected to reflect the added passenger and cargo volume of the Tahoe and Suburban.
Technology-wise, the two Chevrolet models are equipped with a 15-inch head-up display, a 10-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, a surround-view camera, and a suite of active-safety features. When it comes to the Escalade, though, these are likely going to be taken up a notch to complement an entirely different and more luxurious interior.
The Escalade will also debut with Super Cruise, the brand’s semi-autonomous driving system, while a fully electric version is set to launch a few years after its 2020 debut.
The SUV is expected to go on sale by the end of 2020 with a starting price of $76,490.
