In September, Honda revealed the final production version of the 2020 CR-V, which is reportedly packed with more power and better fuel economy. But it is only now the automaker is releasing the model’s official pricing scheme.
For the base model, buyers will have to shell out $26,145, inclusive of the mandatory destination charge of $1,095. This puts the base model $600 more expensive than the entry-level 2019 CR-V. An all-wheel-drive option is offered for each trim for an additional cost of $1,500.
Despite this minor price bump, the Japanese automaker maintains that consumers will appreciate the latest updates on the model.
For the coming model year, Honda Sensing will be standard across the entire lineup. Honda Sensing is the company’s active safety features bundle that includes braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency and adaptive cruise control. Also standard across all CR-V trims is a 1.5-liter turbo-four engine that replaces a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline-four. The turbo-four is 6 horsepower more than the old engine with EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings that are more efficient by 2 miles per gallon. For a $600 increase, these are not so bad.
While the new CR-V does not look too different from the previous generation, it does have a few styling upgrades such as a new grille and front bumper, as well as a darker element applied to the taillights. The model also has additional storage space with its center console made over with USB ports that are easier to access. A heated steering wheel and wireless phone charging are also standard equipment for the Touring trim.
In terms of pricing per variant, the Touring trim starts at $33,345, while the EX-L is priced at $31,145 and the EX trim at $28,655. The EX includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. Heated seats, remote start, and a smart-entry keyless system are also standard.
Honda, however, has not shared details on the CR-V Hybrid, which is expected to go on sale sometime in 2020.
