Ford is bringing back the King Ranch trim to its Expedition lineup for the 2020 model year.

The automaker gave the trim a quick break while the Expedition underwent a redesign in 2018. And now that the redesign is done and over with, the King Ranch variant is set to return to the model’s updated hierarchy.

The new King Ranch trim level features a mix of rhinestone cowboy appeal and a luxurious feel. The interior comes with Del Rio leather covering all three rows of seating, Ziricote wood veneers, and “emblazoned” seatbacks with the King Ranch’s W logo.

For the exterior, Ford is giving the King Ranch a two-tone paint job, lower body grille, and a selection of trim bits painted in Stone Gray color. Power-deployable side steps and machined-face 22-inch wheels are also added, plus more of the W logos.

Additionally, the 2020 Expedition’s Platinum trim is also getting upgrades that include MultiContour mega-adjustable front seats, power-folding and heated side mirrors, electronically adaptive dampers, a 360-degree parking camera, and Ford’s Co-Pilot360 active-safety features.

Ford has also significantly reduced the plastic material used for the interior of the Platinum variant, covering it with leather instead, particularly, the dashboard, front door panels, front and rear door armrests, and center console. Meanwhile, the steering wheel is set apart by the Wollsdorf-leather wrap, while the 22-inch wheels also give the Platinum trim a sharper swag.

The company, however, has not yet released the official pricing for the higher-level Expedition trims. But based on estimates, the Platinum trim is seen to start at $70,000 while the King Ranch is expected to have a higher price tag. Both models will also be offered on the regular-body Expedition and long-wheelbase Expedition Max variants.
