Nissan is aiming to outdo itself for its release of the second-generation Versa, which is said to be the cheapest car in the United States with a starting price of $12,460 for its base trim.

Its hatchback version, the Versa Note, also held the distinction of being the most affordable hatchback in America before it was discontinued for the 2019 model year.

For the upcoming model year, the Japanese automaker has tweaked its focus from a price to a features standpoint and revealed the third-generation Versa will be offering more safety features and technology in the sub-compact sedan segment. The new version will be offered at $14,730 for the entry-level trim; not the most affordable, but still a bargain nonetheless.

The model will be available in three trim levels, all powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque.

As previously mentioned, the base S trim starts at $14,730 with the five-speed manual transmission while the Xtronic CVT version goes up to $16,400. Among the standard features included in the S trim are the Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist. Also included are the push-button start, 7-inch touchscreen, steering wheel controls, automatic headlights, and power windows.

The SV trim, meanwhile, has a starting price of $17,640 and comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, upgraded cloth, rear door alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The SR trim is offered at $18,240 with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, fog lights, black exterior accents, orange interior accents, automatic climate control, intelligent key, and six speakers.

Nissan will also be offering the SR Convenience Package, which adds heated front seats and adaptive cruise control for an additional $300. An additional $895 is also needed for the destination and handling fee.
