The Nissan Rogue Sport is next in line in Nissan’s lineup for a redesign. Based on recent updates from the automaker, an refreshed version of the vehicle will likely arrive in time for the 2022 model year.
There isn’t much information detailing the upcoming Nissan Rogue Sport; however, Nissan’s European arm recently released teasers of the Qashqai SUV, the Rogue Sport’s global counterpart, giving the public an idea of what to expect from the model.
Covered in camouflage, the Qashqai prototype is reminiscent of the 2021 Rogue, specifically with the seams, the front end with a similar headlight arrangement, and its rear end attributes. There’s a chance these features will make it to the new Rogue Sport, which is expected to be on the larger end of the subcompact SUV market as it slots between the entry-level Kicks and the compact Rogue.
In terms of the powertrain, the Qashqai is getting 12-volt hybrid drivetrains perfect for Europe’s strict emissions standards. But for the US-spec Rogue Sport, a more conventional gasoline engine is more likely. Some of the engine options include a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter inline-four engines, both of which will be paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission as well as a choice between a front- and all-wheel-drive.
The Qashqai’s interior, meanwhile, boasts of features like a large tablet-style touchscreen infotainment system and a modernized dashboard with a digital instrument cluster.
While Nissan Europe appears to be ready for a full reveal of the Qashqai, Nissan USA remains mum as to when customers can see the final production version of the redesigned Rogue Sport.
