Chevrolet is upgrading its well-loved Silverado truck for the 2022 model year with a multifunction tailgate.

According to a report first published by GMTrucks, the tailgate will be called the MultiFlex. It will consist of six different functions and will be added as standard equipment on some models of the truck, including the High Country.

The same tailgate was previously offered as standard equipment on the GMC Sierra SLT, AT4, and Denali. But the latest update suggests that the MultiFlex will also find its way to the 2022 Silverado 1500 and Silverado HD.

Among the functions of the new tailgate is a secondary cutout in the middle, which customers can fold down to create more standing space or folded up to keep longer loads in place at the back of the tailgate.

It will also come with a weatherproof built-in Kicker audio system, USB port, and auxiliary input, all of which are great accessories on the road.

When it comes to current models in the market, the MultiFlex on GMC trucks is ranked as the best tailgate among all available options.

The MultiFlex tailgates are expected to arrive on Silverados for the 2022 model year along with other styling updates.
