Jeep just confirmed that the previous teaser it released referring to something “Grand” was for the upcoming debut of the new Grand Wagoneer for 2021.
In another teaser posted by the automaker on Twitter, the badge and interior of what appears to be the full-size SUV were revealed. This suggests that the model is set to arrive sooner than everyone thinks.
The emblem has a noticeable gold lettering finish and a logo of the American flag, which appears to be a nod at the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer being built in Michigan. The interior photo puts focus on the vehicle’s engine start-stop button and the wood trim. Also noticeable is the central touchscreen infotainment screen that comes with two knobs on the sides.
Jeep will be offering two versions of the vehicle: the Grand Wagoneer and the standard model. The Grand Wagoneer is likely to be built with an extended wheelbase, while the other has the standard length.
The models are set to compete against other SUVs such as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban.
The new Grand Wagoneer will reportedly use the Ram 1500’s body-on-frame platform, with the V-6 and V-8 engines as the likely powertrain options along with hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.
Jeep has remained mum on the other details of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer but claimed they are “coming soon.” Production of the two models is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2021, so it’s highly possible for the debut to happen later this year.
