Following a complete redesign in 2020, the sixth and current generation of the Ford Explorer is gearing up for its return for the 2021 model year. This time, though, the model is getting price reductions across all its trim levels.
The 2021 Explorer will pretty much be sporting the same well-loved features and styling that were first seen on its 2020 edition, save for a few changes. These include standard heated seats as well as the addition of the Sport Appearance package and optional heated steering wheel on the XLT trim.
The entry-level trim, which now costs $33,470, gets the least amount of price cut at $540, followed by the XLT which is $2,925 cheaper at $35,245. The Limited trim gets the biggest price cut of $5,458 for a starting price of $44,167, while the Limited hybrid is priced at $50,600, which is $2,875 cheaper than the 2020 edition.
The base, XLT, and Limited variants are all offered with an all-wheel-drive, meaning customers will still have to shell out an additional charge of about $2,000 to the retail price.
The Explorer’s higher trim levels also enjoy huge price reductions for the coming year with the ST variant getting a $2,135 price cut for a retail price of only $53,850. The range-topping Platinum trim, meanwhile, becomes cheaper by $3,770 for a $55,725 price tag. Both the ST and Platinum trims come standard with an all-wheel-drive.
