Earlier in 2020, Jeep announced the arrival of a three-row version of the well-loved Grand Cherokee SUV. It’s only a matter of time until the vehicle arrives and a recent sighting of the model gives the public a better look at what’s in store for buyers.

Noticeably covered in less camouflage compared to its previous sighting, the redesigned SUV shows its similarities with the Dodge Durango in terms of proportions. Also seen is the front end of the vehicle, which is reminiscent of the full-size Grand Wagoneer, as well as the taillights that are comparably thinner than the ones installed in the current model.

Since it will be built with three rows of seats, the new Grand Cherokee comes with a longer wheelbase. More interior and cargo space are also guaranteed, following the automaker’s decision to bring the model on the Alfa Romeo Giorgio platform.

Other improvements that customers can expect from the bigger Grand Cherokee include interior upgrades such as a larger touchscreen, a rotary shift knob, a digital gauge cluster, and premium materials for the styling.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV will be powered by a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated Pentastar V06 engine as standard equipment, while a more powerful V-8 will be offered as an option. For the model’s SRT variant, a supercharged V-8 that delivers up to 700 horsepower is a likely choice.

The model is expected to launch in early 2021 and arrive at dealerships across the United States by the end of the year. When it arrives, it will compete with other popular three-row crossovers such as the Kia Telluride.
