Honda has managed to keep the next-generation Civic hatchback under wraps since it confirmed the model’s arrival in spring 2021. But that is until the sleuths at the CivicXI.com forum uncovered the patent images of the sedan and shared it for everyone to see.

Based on the photos, the upcoming vehicle will feature a similar shape to its current generation with a few design tweaks on some parts. It will be less angular, the lines will appear softer, and the creases and corners will be reduced. The front grille surround will also be more subtle than before, but the greenhouse and hatch slope will pretty much remain unchanged.

Prior to these leaked images, the public’s only glimpse of the 11th-gen Civic came from spy photos released earlier this year. Judging by the smaller wheels and fewer accessories, the car in the latest set of photos seems to be a base model.

Honda previously confirmed that the new Civic lineup will include a sedan, hatchback, Si, and Type R variants—all of which are due to arrive as 2022 models. Experts believe the automaker will offer the Type R Civic as a hatchback, while the Si model will be available as a sedan; however, it is still very much possible for the brand to release a Civic Si hatchback.

Additional details are expected to surface when the all-new Civic officially makes its debut next spring. Units are set to go on sale sometime later in 2021.
