It hasn’t been long since Kia formally introduced the global version of the all-new Sorento SUV. And now, the automaker claims the crossover is scheduled to debut in the United States next week.
Although the overall appearance will be similar to the global version, there may be surprise announcements at the upcoming American reveal, particularly about the powertrains that will be used on the US-spec model.
Prior to the SUV’s arrival, Kia released a few teaser images of the US-bound version, one of which revealing an X-Line trim level being part of the fourth-generation Sorento’s lineup. It’s likely going to be an off-road-oriented variant with more rugged styling, but hardcore 4×4 features are not expected with its unibody architecture.
The global version of the SUV is equipped with a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four engine. It is also offered with a hybrid system that comes with a turbocharged 1.6-liter gas engine. Both powertrain options are expected to come to the US, but Kia is also believed to be preparing a naturally aspirated base engine.
More details will be released in this week when the 2021 Kia Sorento SUV debuts in the US. The model is due to arrive at dealership lots sometime later this year.
