Shortly after Ford formally introduced the revived Bronco to the public, reservations for the vehicles and its variants flooded.
It was understandable given the automaker’s flexible reservation policy of a refundable $100 deposit for interested buyers of both the Bronco and Bronco Sport.
For the lucky ones who were able to score a slot, Ford is maintaining a “spring 2021” target date of release. But instead of an April arrival, Ford Authority is saying that the first deliveries of the two- and four-door variants will happen in June. Strictly speaking, it’s still spring, although buyers would have to wait a couple of months more.
Asked about the delay, Ford told the online publication Car and Driver that the company is not looking at it as such.
“We said first deliveries would start in spring 2021,” a spokesperson for Ford said. “That’s still correct.”
Ford also said customers who were successful in making reservations for the first batch of the Bronco will be asked to convert their deposit into an actual order by December. Following their online reservations made through the exclusive website launched by the automaker, buyers will have to go to a local dealer to place the actual order.
Depending on the chosen model and trim, customers will be given an “approximate date for the delivery” of their Bronco in early 2021.
However, for those who still haven’t made up their minds, reports are saying it could take 18 months for the Bronco to be delivered to customers.
“Reservations have been so popular that some Bronco customers may not receive their Bronco until 2022,” Ford’s spokesperson said.
Units for customers who have secured their reservations will be built ahead of stock units, meaning dealers won’t have a lot of vehicles idling in their lots until Ford completes its deliveries to those who have pre-ordered.
For the Bronco Sport models, however, reservations need to be converted into actual orders this summer. Production is set to begin soon after with the arrival at dealerships slated later this year.
