Truck enthusiasts can expect to see an all-new Toyota Tacoma this fall, complete with improved features and equipment.
For more than a decade, the Toyota Tacoma has led the midsize truck segment — 14 years to be exact — often taking 50% to 70% of the market share. It has also benefitted from 18 consecutive months of increased sales.
But with the advancing competition in the market, Toyota is not taking any chances and instead announced that it will be releasing a new 2020 Tacoma with more features and equipment. These features can help off-roading enthusiasts and make driving easier for them.
One of the additional features of the new Tacoma is a sophisticated camera system, which is a first for the model. A Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) will be installed to provide better perspective for drivers, especially when maneuvering in and out of tricky spaces.
Another camera technology is the Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM) which gives drivers a clear view of what’s underneath the vehicle while driving.
On a per-trim level basis, the Panoramic View Monitor will be available as an option for the 2020 Tacoma TRD Sport. The Multi-Terrain Monitor, however, will not be offered with the Sport because it is designed more for on-road driving.
The Tacoma TRD Off-Road, meanwhile, will have both camera systems available as options. Owners of the new Tacoma can have the OVM installed in front, on both sides, and at the back and have the MTM fitted below the vehicle.
The Limited range of the Tacoma fleet will also have the PVM as an option, which experts think will be an essential improvement for drivers like the Birds Eye View Camera in the Toyota Camry and Highlander.
For the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, the automaker says the Fox shocks and springs will be making a return. Standard MTM and PVM technology can also be expected in the Pro, which will be offered in an exclusive Army Green color.
The 2020 Toyota Tacoma will be available in dealerships starting September.
