Toyota announced it is recalling around 184,000 units of the Tundra pickup over reports of dim blinkers and difficulties in noticing the turn signal.
According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Toyota Tundra pickups from the 2018 to 2020 model years are set to be recalled due to a wiring error that causes dimly lit blinkers. The problem with the wiring may also be the reason for dim hazard lights.
With poor lighting, the vehicles fail to meet federal vehicle standards. The NHTSA also said this could make it difficult for drivers to notice the turn signal or hazards, thereby increasing the risk of accidents and injuries.
To fix the problem, Toyota is advising owners of affected vehicles to bring their pickup trucks to their local dealerships. A technician will work on modifying the wiring harness in order to correct the bulbs for the turn signal. The repairs will be at no cost to customers.
Toyota will begin sending out recall notifications to Tundra owners on September 13.
