Hi there,
If the odometer is recording mileage slowly while the trip odometer and speedometer are functioning normally, it could indicate an issue with the odometer itself, other than an issue with the speed sensor or other related systems. Here are the possible causes:
1. Faulty or worn-out odometer gears. It is a common issue. These gears get cracked and break apart. If the gears are incomplete, it will cause the odometer to count the mileage slowly or incorrectly.
2. Defective odometer motor. If faulty, it could cause the odometer to advance slowly or not at all. The trip odometer might have a separate motor or be less affected by the issue, which is why it could still function normally.
3. Electrical issues. Loose or corroded wiring connectors or failing soldered joints can be the main cause of slow mileage movement/reading.
4. Software glitch. In some cases, a glitch in the vehicle's software can then cause the odometer to malfunction. A reset or update on the software could resolve the issue.
Still, it is best to have it checked by your trusted local auto repair shop or mechanic I hope this helps.
