Hi there,
The speedometer cable on a 1998 Mazda B3000 series is located on the driver's side transmission (rear position, near where the driveshaft connects to the transmission tailshaft). You can check by looking for a thin, flexible cable that runs from the transmission to the instrument cluster behind the dashboard. It is possible the 1998 Mazda B3000 uses an electronic speed sensor (VSS) rather than a traditional cable. This sensor would have a wiring harness connected to it.
Still, please double-check other resources such as a vehicle-specific repair manual, or consult with your trusted auto repair shop or mechanic.
