Hi there,
Based on the details provided of your 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe having high revs in the park and a whining/whirring sound while driving, here are possible causes of the problem:
1. Bad idle air control valve. The IAC valve regulates the engine's idle speed. If it is failing or sticking to adjust properly, it will cause the engine to idle at a higher RPM than normal.
2. Power steering pump. A whining noise while driving could be attributed to a faulty power steering pump. A low fluid level will produce a whining sound, especially during turns or when the steering wheel is operated.
3. Serpentine belt issues. If the belt is worn out or cracked already and at the same time improperly tensioned, it will produce a whirring sound as it moves against the pulleys.
I hope this helps!
