Do you have to replace the entire transmission if you are leaking fluid from the transmission front pump?
Automatic Transmission Front Pump
We have a I have a 2014 Kia Sorento Limited-SXL Sport Utility 4D and over the last year we have been having challenges with a leak. We had a rebuilt engine installed 8/2023 due to the leak however 3/8/24 we are still having the leak and now the service department is saying that the leak is actually coming from the transmission. So $8000 (rebuilt engine) later, trips back and forth to the service department, the Dealership Service Dept. is now saying we need to replace the transmission for another $4478.00. Per the technician the red fluid leak is coming from the transmission front pump and they recommend we replace the whole transmission not just the pump. I am so disappointed with Kia right now....when we initially purchased the vehicle brand new from the same dealership that's been servicing the car we were told how great Kia's are....this has been the worst experience of car ownership. I am really mad because its possible we replaced an engine that did not need to be replaced and now you are advising me to replace a transmission (mind you we have not had any transmission issues) instead of just the pump however you are the only place that has serviced our vehicle from day 1) if you are not having transmission issues do we need to replace an enitre transmission, can we just replace the pump, 2) is it possible that when they removed and replaced the engine that the torque converter was not locked properly and it caused damaged to the front pump?
